McLaren Macomb will host an American Red Cross Blood Drive from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2012. The drive will be held in the pre-function area of the Medical Education Auditorium on the hospital’s lower level (east tower). McLaren Macomb is located at 1000 Harrington Blvd. in Mount Clemens.
The Red Cross of Southeastern Michigan provides lifesaving blood to 43 hospitals and needs 900 people to give blood and platelets each weekday to meet hospital demand. All blood types are needed, but there is an urgent need for type O positive and negative, B negative and A negative.
Accident victims, as well as patients with cancer, sickle cell disease, blood disorders and other illnesses receive lifesaving transfusions every day. There is no substitute for blood and volunteer donors are the only source.
Appointments can be made online by visiting www.redcrossblood.org and clicking on “make a blood donation appointment” and entering the McLaren Macomb sponsor code: mclarenmacomb. Donors can also make an appointment by calling the American Red Cross of Southeastern Michigan at (877) 505-9527.
Donors must be at least 17 years old, meet certain weight and height requirements and be in good general health. In addition, donors will be asked to present a photo ID or American Red Cross Donor Card.
